Chinese authorities arrested three Tibetan monks, including
a student in Beijing after a self-immolation protest against Chinese rule in
Tibet, and have banned a debate between universities in the revolution of 1911.

Following protests against Chinese rule in Tibet when the young monk Losing Phuntsog self-immolated and died on March 17, the Chinese authorities have intensified and expanded its repression of Tibetan monks. The protesters demanded a free Tibet and the return of their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama.

Chinese authorities arrested three Tibetan monks, including a student in Beijing after a self-immolation protest against Chinese rule in Tibet, Radio Free Asia reported on 3 April.
Following protests against Chinese rule in Tibet when the young monk Losing Phuntsog self-immolated and died on March 17, the Chinese authorities have intensified and expanded its repression of Tibetan monks. The protesters demanded a free Tibet and the return of their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama.
Losing Stupak student of Beijing University nationality, and two monks, Losing Ngoro and Losing Chapel, were arrested. The reason and the location of his detention remain unknown.
The Chinese authorities have increased their control over the Nab Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province, making the coverage of events even more difficult than usual. They impose new restrictions on the Karta monastery in Nab prefecture, where both Phuntsog and Stupak come, including greater control movements of the monks.
The Chinese authorities have also arrested dozens of Tibetans, including family members of Phuntsog, without revealing the reasons for the arrests.
According to Steering, a monk from Karta monastery affiliated to Dharamsala, India, the Chinese authorities have been conducting rehabilitation programs with Tibetan monks. It is reported that the Karta monastery in Nab Prefecture and witnessed periodic repression of Chinese authorities, especially since the riots in 2008.
